We propose a virtual smart home hub that replaces centralized cloud control and physical hubs, which pose privacy and reliability risks. Our system uses secure multiparty computation to let users define smart home automation without exposing device data or relying on a single point of failure.

Protesters can now stay connected even when the internet is shut down, thanks to Amigo, a clever mesh messaging system that keeps chats secure and anonymous in chaotic, protest-like conditions. Unlike older systems, Amigo handles the messy, real-world challenges of unreliable connections and large groups with smart routing and continuous key agreement.

To address the lack of diversity in Computer Science and Engineering (CS&E), we held a one-day workshop at a Hispanic-Serving Institution, featuring research presentations, hands-on demos, and discussions with graduate students. The event successfully increased participant interest in graduate studies, with survey results showing significant boosts in enthusiasm for CS&E research and graduate education, highlighting the potential of such events to broaden diversity in the field.

At this conference, we presented Amigo, a secure group messaging application for the blackout-protest setting. We show that even with efficient cryptography, the mesh messaging community still has a ways to go in providing suitable application for the large-scale protest environment.
